Questions on World's essential thing :- Water
Q1. Why water is transparent ?
A1. When a material is opaque (transparent) the atoms in that material absorb all the wavelenghts of colours that is why it is transparent. When an object is transparent, the wavelenghts of light that hit the object are not correct wavelenghts of the atoms in the object will absorb. So the light passes through it .
Q2. If the water is transparent, why it reflect the light ?
A2. Water does not reflect the light, but refracts it. There are exists a set of equations called the Fresnel Equations that describe this refraction, And these equations also predicts that a small portion of light will reflect in something is called as Fresnel Reflection. This similar to how it is possible to see your reflection in a transparent glass.
